Alere Flammam is the first piece for orchestra that I completed.  The piece is structured so that different sections of the orchestra are featured in different sections throughout the piece.  It was written rather quickly, to meet an unforeseen deadline.  The Latin title translates into "to feed the flame," aptly reflecting the pressure to meet the deadline.  Indeed, the title page of the score includes an apt quote from Rossini: "Nothing primes inspiration more than necessity."
