In Toccatina, I tried to evoke some of the idioms of old harpsichord style, without actually imitating them.  I also tried to write a piece that would sound (and look) flashy without actually being overly difficult. 

The single movement has a number of contrasting sections.  The sections are delineated by different themes, tempos, textures, and timbres, but are unified by a consistent harmonic language throughout the piece.
